Nicole Scherzinger was born on June 29, 1978 in Honolulu, Hawaii to a Filipino father and a Russian mother. When her mother remarried a German-American, Nicole took his last name, Scherzinger. Nicole is best known as the lead singer of the all girl group the Pussycat Dolls. She got her start in the music business in 2001 when she auditioned for the reality TV show Popstars for the chance to win a spot in an all-girl music group. Not only did Nicole win one the five coveted spots for the group, she also became the main vocalist. The members of the group named themselves Eden's Crush and their first single "Get Over Yourself (Goodbye)" made it to the top of the Billboard Charts in 2002. Although Eden's Crush had a great start, the group disbanded after their recording company, London-Sire Records, fell apart. In 2003, Nicole joined a burlesque group called the Pussycat Dolls as they were in the process of transitioning to a recording group. The band had a great deal of successful number one hits but went on a hiatus in late 2009. While still in the group, Nicole released her debut solo album Her Name Is Nicole. The album featured a number of artists like T.I. and Rihanna and the songs were co-written by various artists such as Keri Hilson, Pharrel, and Timbaland. Nicole geared her focus back to the Pussycat Dolls when her solo album did not do as well as expected. She is set to release another solo album later this year. She will work with even more artists on this album whose names have not all been released yet. In January 2010, a video showing Nicole and Jay Sean recording in the Hit Factory studio in Miami, Florida hit the web. Nicole also appeared on the American reality show Dancing with the Stars as a celebrity contestant and won the tenth season of the competition in May 2010. Around the same time Nicole released her first single off of her new album titled “Nobody Can Change Me.” Only time will tell if Nicole's solo career will be as successful as her time with the Pussycat Dolls.
