“Anjaana Anjaani” is a Bollywood film directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Sajid Nadiawala. The romantic comedy is based on the Hollywood dramas “The Girl on the Bridge” and “Before Sunrise.” The film stars Bollywood big shots Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, as well as Zayed Khan. Ranbir plays Aakash, a New York native who has tried to get an established career but failed - and who has also failed at finding love!
Sick of facing failure, Aakash has given up on life altogether. Things change when he meets Kiara, played by Priyanka. Kiara resides on the other side of the country, in San Francisco, yet she is facing the same struggles as Aakash. It seems like nothing works in her favor, and quite frankly- she is fed up with her life as well.
The two cross paths when they meet each other on the same bridge in New York where they both planned to commit suicide! It looks like the two were destined to meet; that they were destined to change each other’s lives as well, and neither goes through with their horrible suicide attempts. Instead Aakash and Kiara go on a whirlwind trip across the country to Las Vegas where the formerly depressed individuals help each other to be happy again, find success - and of course fall in love!
"The thought behind “Anjaana Anjaani” is that all great love stories start out as people meeting as strangers before they fall in love with each other," producer Sajid Nadiadwala told reporters. "Apart from Priyanka and Ranbir being a fresh combination, it's the first pure, young, cool love story from my banner.”
The music for Anjaana Anjaani adds a little comic relief. The soundtrack was composed by Vishal-Shektar and features nine original tracks, including “I Feel Good,” and “Aas Pass Khuda.”
The film is set to release on October 1, 2010.
