Ronnie Screwvala’s and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie Guzaarish stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan. The romantic drama is said to be a remake of Christopher Nolan's film The Prestige. Rumor has it the movie's director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, has adapted the script about two rival magicians to fit an Indian context.
The film follows a nurse named Sophie D'souza, played by Aishwarya, and her paraplegic patient Ethan Mascarenhas, portrayed by Hrithik. Ethan works as a magician but one day a trick goes awry and he finds himself paraplegic. After 14 years at a nursery home, Ethan files a petition for the right to commit suicide, all the while teaching another magician, Omar Siddiqui played by Aditya Roy Kapoor, his old tricks.
Other cast members include Monikangana Dutta, Rajit Kapoor, Shernaz Patel, Sanjay Lafont and Nafisa Ali. Rumor is that Aishwarya and Hrithik will sing together on the soundtrack. This will not be a first for Hrithik who also sang on the soundtrack for his movie Kites.
Fans might be used to see a fit and healthy Hrithik Roshan, but that will all change in Guzaarish. In order to get 'in shape' for his role as a paraplegic the actor had to go on a very special diet. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali put Hrithik on a special workout regime and given him equally specific orders when it comes to his physical appearance.
Bhansali told Hrithik to gain weight around the arms and abs and to let his hair and beard grow out, a little bit like Hollywood star Tom Cruise in the movie Born on the Fourth of July. Hrithik is really taking his role as a paraplegic seriously as he has been working those biceps in a wheelchair and researching real patients' physical behavior.
Guzaarish releases on November 19.
