Patiala House is directed by Nikhil Advani and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Mukesh Talreja, Krishan Kumar, and Akshay Kumar's wife, Twinkle Khanna.
Akshay Kumar stars as Parghat Singh Kahlon aka Gattu, Anushka Sharma as Simran, Rishi Kapoor as Gurtej Kahlon, Dimple Kapadia as Mrs. Kahlon, Prem Chopra as Mr. Sahini, and Urban Desi rapper Hard Kaur as Komal Chatwal.
Other cast members include Rabbit Sack C who plays Aman Kahlon, Tinu Anand who portrays Mr. Bedi, Jeneva Talwar who plays Priti Kahlon, as well as Soni Razdan and Kumud Mishra.
Akshay portrays Parghat Singh Kahlon, a man who runs a corner shop in Southall, London, but dreams of playing cricket. His dad, Gurtej Singh Kahlon played by Rishi Kapoor, is busy running the family and wants to make sure no one loses any of their traditional Indian culture. However, Parghat wants to play cricket for England and when he gets a chance to do so, the father/son drama sets in for real.
For the movie, the sporty Akshay had to learn how to bowl in cricket: "I'm working towards it. Practicing my cricket gives me the biggest high. I am not yet good enough to play national-level cricket but I am getting there. I've been taking bowling lessons for Patiala House from one of the best trainers. I'm trying get to a national level. I'm very sporty by nature. So it was quite easy for me to pick it up," he told IANS.
The soundtrack for Patiala House was created by composer trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and features tracks like Laungda Lashkara by Mahalakshmi Iyer and Hard Kaur, Kyun Main Jaagoon, Rola Pe Gaya, Aadat Hai Who, Baby When You Talk To Me, Tumba Tumba, Aval Allah as well as a few unplugged versions and remixes.
Patiala House releases on February 11.
